CSA Week 4

Welcome to Week 4!

In your share:

Pac Choi

Lettuce Mix

Head Lettuce-"Freckles" variety

Turnips-And what do you do with turnips? We grow a Japanese variety that is sweet and equally good raw or fresh. All about turnips here.

Beets

Cucumbers

Garlic Scapes-These are the flowers that the garlic plant sets off, We harvest them to promote growth to the bulb of the garlic. Bonus: you can eat them! They have a mild garlic flavor and are great chopped fresh in a salad or in a stir fry. Our favorite way to prepare them is to toss them in olive oil and salt and roast in a 400 degree oven until crispy. We have them as "fries" along side of burgers. Here are a lot more delicious ways to use them.

Parsley-You're getting a lot of it. It's really good for you. We make parsley salads a lot. We throw it in chicken stock. More parsley recipes here.

As always, we'll have whole chicken and eggs to sell tomorrow at the dropsites!

See you this week!
